Now that the green police are cutting down trees that have been rooted on our pavements, long before any member of their team was born, tree trunks have become easily available – and – they make excellent garden stools!

Upgrade yours with woolen berets, R20 each, from traders on the pavements where the trees once stood, or R29,99 from any PEP store.

For a softer seat, cut a circle of high density foam and slip it between the trunk and the beret.

And if the fit is too tight, wet the beret before fitting it.
