London based designer Azusa Murakami’s 'Eating Implement' may look intimidating, but this clever piece of cutlery provides a contemporary way of eating that is not all that new.
As ominvores, we have gradually stopped using our teeth in favour of cutlery. Azusa’s design is based on the dental anatomy of animals, keeping their diet in mind. Her smart use of primal shapes is juxtaposed by the modern aesthetic and choice of material. The implement is made up of different dental parts such as a tongue-shaped scoop, razor sharp fangs and rounded tusk-like hooks at the front.
There is no longer a need to worry about washing up knives, forks and spoons - provided you're brave enough to put this curious and somewhat intimidating utensil near your mouth...
