INTERVIEWED BY Michaela Stehr
The third season of reality show Win a Home is back on Afternoon Express on SABC3. We chat to 25-year-old architecture graduate and Win a Home contestant Juané Venter about her style and inspiration.
How would you describe your interior style?
My style is simple and practical with a dash of personality.
What do you look for in a space when dressing an empty canvas?
A feeling of light, openness and intrigue.
What inspires you?
Definitely nature – the ultimate combination of practicality and beauty. I am also inspired by other artists and creatives.
VISI editor-in-chief Sumien Brink is your mentor for the show. What would you like to learn from her?
She has a lot of experience in interiors in terms of colour choice, furniture and styling. She also knows all the best people in the business.
What architectural styles influence you the most?
Contemporary architecture, as it considers it surroundings, such as critical regionalism. I also love minimalist design and really appreciate modernist architecture.
The three contestants stand a chance to win an internship with global design studio ARRCC, including a mentorship from architect Stefan Antoni and R50 000 cash.
Tune into SABC3 between 4pm and 5pm every weekday to catch Win a Home, brought to you by Private Property in proud association with Nedbank, on Afternoon Express. Don’t forget to follow Juané on Twitter.
