Raka Inoue’s Insect Flower Arrangements

WORDS Mary Garner

Raku Inoue, an artist based in Montreal, Canada, has created a clever series of insect flower arrangements, titled “Natura Insects”.

The works in this series have been made using flowers and leaves that have been transformed into intricate butterflies, stag beetles and other insects. The pieces were made by hand using real flowers, without the help of digital collage techniques.

For Raku, it was important to add a natural touch to the process, physically putting all of the pieces together himself, before photographing each one to preserve them.
