Local brand SMITH Jewellery’s new collection is inspired by the striking contrasts and elegant lines seen in the Film Noir period of the 1940s and 1950s.
The range adheres to a monotone theme featuring oxidised silver, white and black pearls and white silver. The traditional, simple lines of the period have been adapted for contemporary relevance while referencing the timeframe.
“I chose to juxtapose the pearls with the dark oxidised silver,” explains Anna Raimondo of SMITH. “Pearls are surrounded by mystery and are a symbol of purity, while silver has both a feminine power and a spiritual energy. It can also be deceptive and two-sided, much like the characters from Film Noir movies.”
