Design fundis from around the world will make the pilgrimage to the 2011 Thailand International Furniture Fair (TIFF) later this month in search of local Thai as well as other Asian design pieces.
One of the most interesting events at the Fair is the DEmark exhibition – a national design competition that recognises the year’s most outstanding design pieces. TIFF 2011 will showcase the work of the Thai winners of the DEmark competition as well as the Japanese Good Design Award (G-mark) winners, which will give visitors the opportunity to view the designs in person.
Other interesting exhibitions include:
– The Waste to Wealth project, which explores ways to reduce waste by transforming industrial byproducts into beautiful pieces of furniture.
– The Design Camp, which displays the work of up-and-coming designers from prestigious design institutions around Thailand, giving young and fresh designers a chance to make a name for themselves in the industry.
– The Eco Design exhibits, which showcase Thailand’s eco-friendly furniture designs by businesses that participated in the “Finding Green Piece” initiative.
The Fair runs from 19 – 20 March 2011.
